Technology has made our lives easier in many ways. We can order groceries online with a few clicks of the mouse, find directions to almost anywhere with the tap of a finger, and stay connected to friends and family across the globe with just a few taps on our phones.

But technology also has a dark side — cybercriminals are constantly trying to steal personal information for their own gain. So, what do you need to know about cybercrime and how can you protect yourself from its malicious intent?

Recently, I became a victim of identity theft and have suffered greatly as a result. I cannot say exactly how or when my identity was stolen. I have now received a letter from the police where I have to take a stand on the incident. I am truly shocked and uncertain. The worst thing is that I have also lost trust in humanity. What happened to honest work, is everything just fraud now?

According to my lawyer, this is very common. I don’t know if it should be reassuring that I’m not the only one with these issues, or more frightening. I don’t know how to behave online or in private from now on. It can happen to anyone. One click is enough and many problems are already waiting for you. Also, it is difficult to prove that you have been hacked. We don’t know what will happen, we don’t know if the police report will…
